Fellowship in clinical Transplantation

  1. This programme is a purely online programme.
Bedside teaching is not required for postgraduate students especially in transplantation. They have learned to elicit physical signs as undergraduate. Those who could not get these skills as undergraduate they will never get it. In transplantation in particular, we teach them higher order thinking and critical thinking with the application into a clinical context.
  2. The programme is designed in 6 modules, each addresses different groups of related topics covering all aspects of transplantation. Each module lasts 12 weeks (20 credits each). The whole fellowship can be awarded after successful completion of 6 modules (18 months). The student has the options of studying individual modules as CME/CPD or have a postgraduate certificate (3 modules).
  3. The education is delivered in the form of online recorded lectures, case-based discussions, critical appraisal of scientific papers and problem-solving exercises. Clinical scenarios and real-life practical experience are presented online asynchronously by senior transplant clinicians.
  4. here are 2 exams in each module. Each exam has different form and shape. For example, one exam takes the form of poster presentation on one the important topic such as steroid free protocol while the other exam is a complex clinical scenario related to rejection. In addition to this different formatting, there is a strong emphasis on reflection on the candidate’ local practice. We are not allowing regurgitation of knowledge without going through a higher order-thinking process. We use the exam as a teaching tool. There is a pass/pass/failure marking with is also regulated by well-designed marking scheme to ensure fair marking.
  5. Regarding the approvals, we are making progress to approve it from many leading educational bodies.
  6. Candidates have many choices. Candidates will be awarded a Fellowship in Clinical Transplantation after successful completion of 6 modules. Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Transplantation is awarded after successful completion of any 3 modules. The programme also offers individual modules as CPD.
  7. English language test is NOT required for those who studied medicine in English; others will need to demonstrate evidence of a good command of English language. The programme is offered for All Health Professionals (nephrologists, surgeons, allied health professionals and any related subspeciality) interested in enhancing their clinical exposure and develop their practice in transplantation (subject to approval).
